jkduk.com Jeet Kune Do (Chinese 截拳道Cantonese: Jitkyùndou lit. “Way of the Intercepting Fist,” also “Jeet Kun Do”,”JKD,” or “Jeet Kune Do”) is a hybrid fighting system and life philosophy founded by Bruce Lee in 1959- 1973 with direct, non classical, and straight forward movements. Jeet Kune Do is primarily an open hand system. The system works on the use of different ‘tools’ for different situations. These situations are broken down into ranges (Kicking, Punching, Trapping, & Grappling), with techniques flowing smoothly between them. Also, it is referred to as a “style without style”. Unlike more traditional martial arts, Jeet Kune Do is not fixed or patterned, and is a philosophy with guiding thoughts. In 2004, the Bruce Lee Foundation decided to use the name Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do (振藩截拳道) to refer to the martial arts system that Lee founded. “Jun Fan” was Lee’s Chinese given name, so the literal translation is “Bruce Lee’s Way of the Intercepting Fist.”
According to all I have researched, Bruce Lee never encountered 1 vs 1+ real fight situations. All the fights he had was 1 vs 1.
Just as the title says. looking for a jeet kune do dojo in california. Near cerritos for specifics, but just a list of them would be great.
I am curious to know if the straight lead is better than the Jab because I have seen people step into it and I am sure this is powerful but not sure if this takes away from the quickness and looseness of a boxer’s Jab.
I have already found the Keysi Fighting Method, Combat Submission Grappling and Progressive Fighting Systems and wanted to know if there were anymore.
or self defense training system?
I took the course for 1 year and am going through Bruce Lee’s book on it. I never hear anything about it being used and would just like to hear something.
